1980's Greek Mythology Snake Bracelet

What a cool bracelet! A similar piece was recently featured in the 'Fashion Cravings' section of the July 2008 Allure magazine. This silver bracelet is adorned with a beautifully detailed snake that coils around the wrist when worn.

In many cultures, snakes symbolized the umbilical cord, joining all humans to Mother Earth. The Great Goddess often had snakes as her familiars - sometimes twining around her sacred staff, as in ancient Crete- and they were worshiped as guardians of her mysteries of birth and regeneration. Handmade in Santorini, Greece.
